Seriously, it’s really just… rude.
You can’t just… ask someone to be friends with you, and then you’re just automatically friends (sometimes even I wish it was like that, there’s a lot of artists I’d like to get to know). But friendship doesn’t work like that.
And it’s not a matter of how well you can draw. I have a ton of friends who can’t draw at all, and I’m acquaintances with people who CAN draw, but we just didn’t develop a close friendship because we just didn’t have the ~*chemistry*~.
So yeah don’t do this.

Man, this has been my life on devinatart for YEARS and it actually HURTS when people ask for a friendship right out of the bat after they get turned down for a request - there’s nothing more blatantly clear that someone’s after free art and NOT a friendship when they do this. :/I’ve been very lucky to meet some amazing and talented artists over the years who’ve gifted me beautiful art but it all started with kind words and talking about things we like and later on, they were so sweet enough to draw me something.  Yet even then, their friendship was the best deal out of that.I just…UGH!

Yes…or when you have just share a couple of comments and then they request a picture or several and when they request something they go “BUT I THOUGHT WE WERE FRIENDS” :| (lol, I think some people know who I’m talking about XD)
Friendship doesn’t work like that. I’ve made some of the best friends ever on dA and to be honest everything is kind of accidental. You start commenting, and replying and talking and talking and you get used to each others, and there’s a moment you don’t even realize you’re there… YOU ARE JUST MARRIED FOREVER AND THERE ARE MARSHMALLOWS AND EVERYTHING IS BEAUTIFUL AND NOTHING HURTS.
There’s a moment it has nothing to do with art, it’s more about how well you connect with someone. Yeah, in short, don’t do this XD
